Kenya Railways managing director Atanas Maina said the launch will be a trial run with the actual service expected to start in January next year. The cargo train, according to Mr Maina, will transport goods destined to Nairobi and its environs. Speaking to the Nation on phone on Monday, Mr Maina said the ICD was almost complete. ATTEND INAUGURATIONMeanwhile, Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has said he will attend the inauguration of the standard gauge railway to be officiated by the President Uhuru Kenyatta. Mr Joho said the Jubilee government had inflated the cost of the SGR project by Sh100 billion in an attempt to siphon public funds.
