The national and county governments have agreed on July 10 as the deadline for all counties to have set up 300-bed capacity facilities to deal with the coronavirus pandemic. In a summit chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday, the two levels of government agreed that they jointly need 30,500 for the expected surge in the Covid-19 cases. To ensure the smooth reopening of schools and other institutions of learning, the summit agreed to involve the Council of Governors in the ongoing education sector stakeholder consultations. He said the Covid-19 health crisis offers the best opportunity for the improvement of healthcare in the country. In his technical briefing, acting Director General of Health Dr Patrick Amoth said community preparedness is crucial in defeating Covid-19.
