The President has dealt his deputy a body blow by consolidating his support in western Kenya. Deputy President Ruto had made political inroads in various parts of the country by opening projects, or inspecting progress and taking part in numerous harambees, so much that it earned him the moniker ‘Tangatanga’. But with the projects route blocked, the DP will need to come up with innovative ways of selling his agenda in the run-up to 2022. Projects in central Kenya will also get attention with the aim of emancipating the region from debilitating politics.
