President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA principal Raila Odinga have mourned former Foreign Affairs Minister Munyua Waiyaki and 26 people who died in a road accident at Kambu on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway on Monday night. Uhuru described Waiyaki as an illustrious son of Kenya and a pioneer diplomat, who played a leading role in laying the foundation of the country’s post-Independence development. Although Waiyaki has left us, his inspirational life will remain a great legacy to his family and the nation,” he said. Waiyaki, 91, died yesterday morning while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital. Raila said Waiyaki remains one of the most respected and successful Foreign ministers Kenya has had since Independence.
