Liow Shin Ni, 24, who won a locally based beauty pageant, was then offered to go to the finals in Shenzhen, China. The middleman was also given money by the overseas sponsors to pay the Malaysian side. A police report was made in January after Khoo feared that the man had run away with the money. Liow has still not received her prize money, but was given gifts by Malaysian sponsors for winning the pageant here, which included beauty accessories and a rice cooker.
