Joshua Cheptengei is perhaps the face of Uganda's race to the pinnacle of world Athletics. His medal cabin include 2019 world cross country senior race gold, 2014 world junior championships gold in the 10,000m gold and Commonwealth games 5000m and 10,000m gold. However Uganda's breakthrough into the Athletics limelight came back in 1972 courtesy of the legendary John Akir Bua in the 400m hurdles who won the countries first Olympic gold. With the current crop of Ugandan athletes led by Joshua Cheptengei, Uganda is surely on the horizon, rising in the Athletics world.
