Ubisoft And Microsoft Confirm 'Assassin's Creed Origins'

Credit: UbisoftThe roughly 10,000 leaks were right: the next game in the Assassin's Creed series is Assassin's Creed Origins, taking the player back to the beginnings of the Assassin's Brotherhood in Ancient Egypt, which one supposes the developer can't make any games before Ancient Egypt now. Everything was still very recognizably Assassin's Creed, with all the sneaking through rushes and hopping onto walls that we've come to expect from the series. I saw extensive use of the shield and I saw multiple tactics used against a single enemy, both of which are good signs. The Assassin's Creed series took a year off after the Assassin's Creed Syndicate, which together with Assassin's Creed Unity failed to stir much excitement in a series that many had criticized for open world bloat and repetitive gameplay. There was a time that Assassin's Creed was the most important franchise in Ubisoft's lineup, so let's hope that the company can resurrect the bloody historical sandbox for a new era.
