Uber has disrupted the taxi industry around the world with its ride-hailing app and has now unveiled details of its self-driving car being tested in Pennsylvania. In a survey of 4,787 Americans, 15 per cent reported having used Uber or Lyft, but twice as many have never heard of these apps. Sunil Johal, policy director at the Mowat Centre, said it’s no secret that Uber is working on self-driving cars. In a speech last year, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick said self-driving cars are coming and his company needs to prepare for it. Uber is testing a self-driving vehicle in Pittsburgh - a hybrid Ford Fusion.
