Uber confirmed Tuesday that it will shut down Drizly, the alcohol-delivery service it acquired in 2021, at the end of March. An Uber spokesperson said consumers prefer using the same app when ordering delivery and that the alcohol category on Uber Eats has doubled globally in the last year. The switch-over apparently won't cause much grief to Drizly consumers. It's unclear how many employees work at Drizly, but an Uber spokesperson said there will be no immediate layoffs. However, he said Uber will eliminate some Drizly jobs after the alcohol-delivery business ends in March, as well as Drizly support jobs at Uber.
