State Department spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau": 'Return Thailand to elected civilian-led government as soon as possible'. (Video grab by CSPAN)WASHINGTON - The United States on Monday urged Thailand's ruling junta to return the county to a civilian-led government "as soon as possible". The call came a day after a strong majority voted in favour of the military-drafted constitution in a national referendum. Unofficial results showed more than 60% of Thais voted in favour of the action by the junta of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha in Sunday's referendum. "Once the results are final... we urge Thai authorities to proceed with next steps to return Thailand to elected civilian-led government as soon as possible," Ms Trudeau said.
