US too serious about its elections

One flaw about America is that it takes presidential elections too seriously. The result stands for four years, no matter who wins, be it Donald Duck or Minnie Mouse. There won’t be accusations coming from the loser of a rigged election, or vote buying or whatever; neither will there be an attempt to annul the election result. Imagine, America even held a presidential election in 1864 while the Civil War was raging, but we were queasy about holding the 2014 general election – which was later annulled – just because some morons wanted “reform before an election”.
