US sending armored vehicles into Syria as Trump says 'we are out'

Washington (CNN) The US military announced Friday that it is deploying armored vehicles and other military assets to Syria to protect US troops fighting ISIS amid tensions with Russia as President Donald Trump told a White House news conference that "we are out of Syria," saying the remaining US forces are there exclusively "guarding the oil." This is not the first time the US has deployed Bradley Fighting Vehicles to Syria. They were last sent in October 2019 but have been absent from the country for nearly a year. William Urban, a spokesman for US Central Command, which oversees US operations in the region, told CNN. "The United States does not seek conflict with any other nation in Syria, but will defend Coalition forces if necessary," Urban said.
