Health officials in the United States are investigating the first two potential cases of locally acquired zika virus. If the cases, in Miami and Florida, are confirmed it would mean that the mosquito-borne virus has spread to North America. "The Florida department of health announced that it is conducting an epidemiological investigation into a possible non-travel related case of zika virus in Broward county," said a statement, referring to the area just north of Miami. Both of those being examined say they have not travelled to or had sexual contact with anyone who has visited any of the infected areas.
