Photo: CNAEconomies subject to the latest probe include Taiwan, China, Japan, South Korea, the EU, Singapore, Switzerland, Norway, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Mexico and India, according to the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR). Section 301 allows Washington to impose retaliatory tariffs over perceived unfair trade practices, including running large trade surpluses. Following the launch of the investigations, the USTR said it has requested consultations with the governments of the 16 trading partners.
