US kidswear retailer Carter’s pledges to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040

Carter’s, the American childrenswear, has announced in its CSR report that it is focused on achieving net-zero emissions by 2040. Recently, the fashion retailer received validation for science-based reduction targets, which included commitment to minimise absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 50 per cent by 2030 from a 2019 base year. Reportedly, Carter’s will now engage suppliers – covering 77 per cent of its spend for purchased goods and services – to set their own science-based targets by 2027. Last year, the kidswear retailer had invested US $ 10 million in community initiatives – in addition to launching products made from recycled polyester products. Founded in 1865, Carter’s today sells its products through its own Carter’s and OshKosh B’gosh retail stores, its website and in other retail outlets.
