The embassy said routine consular services would been cancelled but emergency consular services for US citizens in Kenya would be available. It further advised Americans in Kenya to review their “personal security plans, remain aware of your surroundings, including local events, and monitor local news stations for updates”. “Be vigilant and take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security,” a statement from the embassy read in part. ATTEMPTED TO GRAB FIREARMIn the Thursday incident, a middle-aged man was shot dead at the gate of the embassy after he stabbed the police officer before attempting to grab his firearm.
