But even in this scenario, it is interesting to note that India stands out, with both candidates declaring themselves friends of India. Like most nations around the world, India will also be impacted by the impending changes in the US presidency. The world will only take India seriously when India starts taking itself seriously and starts behaving like a serious power. Yet, for all the breast-beating in recent years about India’s emergence as a major global power, Indian strategic and political elites display an insecurity that defies explanation.
