US eases economic sanctions on Sudan

Last week the Trump administration removed Sudan from its controversial list of countries whose citizens travel to the US is severely restricted. The US Treasury published a formal note explaining the decision and stressing that many sanctions remain in place shortly afterwards. Officials cited improvement on humanitarian access, on the mitigation of conflicts within Sudan and progress on counter-terrorism for the decision.
