US double trouble

There is no legal cap on the issuance of L1 visas, but the US typically issues about 45,000 of these visas each year. In 2015, 64 per cent of the 85,000 H1B visas were issued to Indians, including 84 per cent of visas issued for technology jobs. The US State Department does not issue annual country-wise figures for L1 visas, but data released under the Freedom of Information Act shows that 25,898 of the 44,820 L1 visas - 58 per cent - issued in 2011 went to Indians. American companies seeking trained information technology expertise sign deals with these firms that in turn supply them Indian workers. TCS the same year hired 6,163 H1B visas for SCE and on an average paid a recipient $65,565 a year.
