"From October 14-16, Deputy Secretary Biegun will visit Dhaka to meet with senior government officials and reaffirm the United States-Bangladesh partnership," according to a media note issued by the US embassy in Dhaka on Friday. "The deputy secretary’s engagements in Bangladesh will focus on advancing our common vision of a free, open, inclusive, peaceful and secure Indo-Pacific region with shared prosperity for all and US-Bangladesh cooperation on Covid-19 response and recovery efforts and sustainable economic," it said. Biegun, the second senior most official at the Department of State, is going to be the most high-profile US dignitary to visit Bangladesh since the day trip of the then Secretary of State John Kerry in August, 2016.
