Maebel Gebremedhin told AFP that "around 50" family members were trapped in Tigray -- all US citizens and permanent residents. The 36-year-old had reached out to the State Department and the US Embassy in Addis Ababa to ask for help. Her greatest fear, she said, was to get her elderly parents out of Tigray, only for them to be detained in Addis Ababa.
