US Embassy launches project to support Surigao fisheries

While following Covid-19 protocols, 38 youth leaders and 12 local government personnel participated in the bootcamp and formulated innovative projects to support fisherfolks' livelihoods. Throughout the three-day "Bayanivation" bootcamp, YSEALI alumni experts in design-thinking, project management, and community organizing led workshops and mentoring sessions for the participants. Its proponents are YSEALI alumni who received funding support from the US Department of State's 2019 US Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund. Other local government units that participated in the "Bayanivation" Project are Pasig City and Sipalay City, Negros Occidental. It has grown to become a network of more than 150,000 youth leaders in Southeast Asia, including 28,000 in the Philippines.
