Washington, Sep 29 (efe_epa).- The US Congress approved Wednesday a bill to temporarily fund the federal government, including $1.1 billion to combat the Zika virus as well as funds to deal with a drinking water crisis in the city of Flint in Michigan. The bill will now be sent to the White House for President Barack Obama to sign it into law. The Republicans and Democrats also sparred hard in the Senate for passing the funding bill, especially over funds for tackling the drinking water crisis in Flint. On Tuesday, the Senate Democrats blocked the funding bill after Republicans refused to include funds for Flint before relenting to add $220 million in the approved legislation. The aquifer from which Flint draws its drinking water has been contaminated with high levels of lead, creating a significant controversy in the country.
