The United States Government has imposed sanctions against nineteen Kenyans as well as numerous companies. It also lists individuals, groups, and entities, such as terrorists and narcotics traffickers designated under programs that are not country-specific. According to the US Department of Treasury, OFAC is tasked with administering and enforcing economic and trade sanctions 'against targeted foreign countries and regimes, terrorists, international narcotics traffickers.' The sanctions come even as the US continues to battle terror militias across the world including al Shabaab in Somalia as well as al Qaeda.
