URA to speed up Starter Homes construction

Sales of the second phase of e-Residence could be sped up a year and start in 2023, Urban Renewal Authority chief executive Wai Chi-sing said. This comes after an overwhelming response for the 43 remaining flats in the first phase of the Starter Home project, which saw it oversubscribed by 113 times. This was after the government granted the URA a site at Anderson Road in Kwun Tong for the second Starter Homes project in May this year, with the condition that construction be completed before March 2026. “I have ordered the construction team of e-Residence Phase 2 to study the feasibility of expediting the construction given that it is still in compliance with the Buildings Ordinance,” Wai said. Wai also wrote that the URA has received 4,909 applications for the first phase of e-Residence, or an oversubscription of 113 times.
