By Colin KellaherThe union representing more 340,000 United Parcel Service workers on Wednesday said talks with the package-delivery giant on a new labor deal have collapsed, setting the stage for a massive strike at the end of the month. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters said UPS walked away from the bargaining table early Wednesday after presenting what the union called an "unacceptable offer" that its negotiating committee unanimously rejected. The union said the Atlanta company also refused to give a last, best and final offer, adding that no new talks are scheduled. UPS workers under union representation last month voted to authorize a strike if negotiations with the company fail to yield a new agreement. The Teamsters union has already said its members won't work beyond the July 31 expiration of the current contract, which was signed in 2018.
