UPCAT postponed due to Super Typhoon Ompong

MANILA, Philippines — The scheduled University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) this weekend will not push through due to the expected effects of Super Typhoon Ompong in most parts of the country. The UP Office of Admissions said the decision was made following consultation with university officials and weather experts on the latest forecast about the typhoon. It noted that Ompong will have an impact on Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of the country. “(The postponement is) in consideration of the nationwide scope of the exam that entails synchronized travel arrangements among others which pose undue risks to both UPCAT examinees and UPCAT personnel,” UP said in an advisory. Thousands of graduating senior high school students are expected to take the UPCAT this year in 85 testing centers nationwide.
