The emergency helpline number 112 which the Centre plans to extend to launch nationwide has neem adopted in Uttar Pradesh, replacing the earlier emergency number of 100. Dial 100 was launched by Akhilesh Yadav government in 2016 as the emergency police helpline number. However, the 'Dial 100' will be replaced by 112 emergency service which would be the unique number for all emergency services including police, fire, ambulance and State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF). Post-October 26, all emergency numbers - 100 for police, 101 for fire and 1090 women helpline - will be integrated into a single Emergency Response Support System (ERSS).
