In the words of Sumona – one of the victims – her mother Runa Begum had lent Tk3 lakh to Md Ilias before the UP elections. When she accompanied her mother and aunt Helena to meet with Ilias on Sunday morning, who was elected as UP member, they discussed repaying the loan. Around 8:30pm Sunday night, a group of 10-12 thugs led by Ilias stormed Sumona’s house and stabbed the three women.
