The University of the Philippines’ (UP) Board of Regents has withdrawn its recommendation for the reappointment of Frederick “Spocky” Farolan to the panel following his cryptic post and suggestions of violence against basketball players of Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU). “Committed to a higher standard of accountability for its members, the Board hereby withdraws its recommendation for the reappointment of Regent Farolan to the Board of Regents,” the board said in a statement on Monday. ADVERTISEMENT“We enjoin Regent Farolan from making any such further statements which can compromise the reputation and the goodwill of the University,” it added. The UP Board of Regents also dissociated itself from the recent statements and actions of Farolan, a presidential appointee. The board, nevertheless, took note of Farolan’s apology during its meeting regarding the controversial social media post.
