The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) arrested an alleged Islamic State operative from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai on Saturday. Abu Zaid was allegedly involved in the recruitment of potential terrorists from western Uttar Pradesh. Inspector general of police (ATS) Asim Arun said Zaid – hailing from Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh – was in constant touch with four terror suspects who were arrested in April this year. Zaid was arrested as soon as he landed in Mumbai from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, where he had set up base. The police officer identified the four terror suspects arrested earlier as Umar and Mufti (both residents of Bijnore); Ghazi Baba from Unnao; and Zaqwan from Narkatiyaganj in Bihar.
