Through the project, strategic initiatives will be implemented to foster job creation for youth and women, such as capacity-building training courses to facilitate entrance into the labour market. Training and institutional support will also be offered to governmental programmes in the textile and clothing sector. The project also aims to build the capacities of entrepreneurs and workers within the textile sector and strengthen the know-how of the Ministry of Industry of Ethiopia. The initiative is in-line, and complements, what the SINCE (Stemming Irregular Migration from Northern and Central Ethiopia) Programme is doing to address the root causes of migration. The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) has allocated additional parallel bilateral funds to the UNIDO project to carry out complementary activities by Italian Civil Society Organisations, to foster employment and demand-driven training capacity.
