UNESCO to help map cultural, heritage assets


The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (K-PCTA) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) have agreed to jointly work for cultural mapping in the province. Afridi said that cultural mapping was a prerequisite for the promotion of culture. The K-PCTA and UNESCO will jointly work for collecting data and information and boosting the culture in the province,” McPhilips added. The UNESCO official further said that taking steps for the promotion of culture as per the culture policy without cultural mapping would be a distant dream. They said that cultural mapping would help in collecting data and information on cultural activities, cultural fairs, artistes, hujras, local sports and events in far-off villages, towns and cities of the province.
