The Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres expressed concerns over the ongoing fighting around Tripoli and the recent reports of arms influx to Libya. AFP said that Guterres briefed the Security Council about EU's Operation Sophia to make sure the arms ban in Libya is in place. "I am deeply concerned about the current military operations which according to reports are being fueled by the influx of weapons, even via the sea." In the meantime, UN envoy to Libya Ghassan Salame, warned about alarming violations of the arms embargo and international humanitarian law during the conflict, urging that those in violation be held accountable. Salame added on Monday in Brussels at an EU meeting that there is no military solution to the crisis.
