GENEVA (5 April 2018) – The UN Human Rights Committee is expected to review findings of Liberia and other countries from July 2 to 27 July civil and political rights record of these countries. Already the Committee has published its findings on the civil and political rights record of countries it examined during its latest session: Guatemala, El Salvador, Norway, Lebanon and Hungary. The findings, officially termed concluding observations, contain positive aspects of the respective State’s implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), and also main matters of concern and recommendations. The Committee’s concluding observations are an independent assessment of States’ compliance with their human rights obligations under the treaty.
