"We have been informed that earlier today a Tunisian appeals court has reviewed the case against Mr. Kartas and has decided to release him. We are very encouraged by this development; we look forward to confirming his actual release from detention," Dujarric said. In March, Tunisian authorities arrested Kartas as he was leaving the Tunis airport. As a member of the UN Security Council's Sanctions Panel of Experts on Libya, Kartas has diplomatic immunity.
