I would specifically like to recognize the important role Liberian women played in pursuing that peace. The United Nations Mission in Liberia has supported the efforts of Liberians in restoring their country and building sustainable peace. Peace will not last without sustainable development; and development gains will be at risk without sustained peace and respect for human rights. Liberia played a lead role in ensuring the coherence between the two plans. I welcome the Government’s commitment to implement the 2030 Agenda through the new National Development Plan.
