The recent spell of wet weather is expected to pause this afternoon as much of the country basks in sunshine. However, the change in conditions will be short-lived as thundery showers and rain return on Thursday. Brighter skies across Northern Ireland and parts of southwest Britain following to all but parts of southeast England and northeast Scotland. However showers will become more frequent and heavier, mainly in parts of the south and west, perhaps with thunder. Outlook for Friday to Sunday:Breezy and unsettled Friday and Saturday, with heavy showers, especially in the south and west.
