UK weather: Heavy snow hits election day with risk of ice in parts of Britain


The first snow of the winter has been pictured in northern England and the Scottish Highlands. One photo shows a man shovelling snow on a street outside a polling station at the village hall in Dalwhinnie, Cairngorms, Scotland. A Met Office meteorologist also reported a risk of ice in Scotland, adding that eastern parts of the country are seeing frost. He said between Saturday to Monday, the country will see continued strong winds, with rain on lower levels and snow on higher levels. "So for the central belt of Scotland through the afternoon border regions of recent Galloway will see some wet weather here.
