UK wealth flatlines amid rising taxes

The number of super-wealthy people living in the UK flatlined last year amid rising taxes but grew significantly almost everywhere else in the world, according to a report released today. The annual Wealth Report released by the estate agency Knight Frank, which chronicles what the rich buy and where they live, calculated that the number of UK residents with assets of $10 million or more was 55,667 in 2024, a rise of 0.9 per cent from the figure of 55,152 a year earlier. The UK figures, however, fly in the face of expanding wealth last year among the world’s richest residents globally, with a 4.4 per cent rise in the number of people with wealth of $10 million or more between 2023 and 2024.
