New Zealand needs another 120 veterinarians, including 25 for Southland, NZ Veterinary Association chief executive Kevin Bryant says. One hundred and fifty Southland veterinarians are members of the association. Meanwhile, Dr Haidar Maliki was one of the 30 veterinarians to gain a border exemption last year to work in New Zealand. He contacted VetSouth and between them, they obtained a critical purpose visa to work in Southland. Maliki went through three “big” lockdowns last year and was out of work for two or three months in the UK.
