Travel-associated cases of viral infection, chikungunya, in England are at their highest point in more than a decade, prompting the additional warning. The latest Infections Report published today, shows that chikungunya cases were up 43% compared to 2024 when 112 cases were reported. While most people recover fully within 1 to 2 weeks, the joint pain can persist for months or even years.
