UK teen faces two years without mum, siblings after cancer diagnosis on NZ trip

Jake Pokai is facing at least two years without his mum and younger siblings after he fell ill with leukaemia while in New Zealand on a rugby trip. But his Kiwi dad, Danny Pokai, will remain by his side until the two can fly back to the UK together in what will most likely be at least two years' time. While his dad had been by his side on the trip, his mum and two younger siblings were back in the UK preparing for Danny and Jake’s return at Christmas. “If she doesn’t go back she loses her job, and if she loses her job we lose the house,” Danny Pokai said.
