Delhi needs at least 480 metric tonnes of oxygen to affectively treat its Covid-19 patients, according to the Hindustan Times. On Wednesday, 22 patients died at a hospital in Maharashtra when their oxygen supply ran out after a leak in the tank. The main problem is that medical oxygen is not reaching hospital beds in time. To fulfill Delhi's current needs, additional medical oxygen now has to be trucked in from industrial zones in eastern India. India's total medical oxygen demand was just 3,842 tonnes as of April 12, as the surge in cases really took hold.
