Chennai, Oct. 1: The Tamil Nadu government and Apollo Hospitals have flown in an intensive-care specialist from London to treat ailing chief minister Jayalalithaa after repeatedly claiming she has been responding well to treatment. Some hospital sources, however, said she had been on a ventilator for the past two days. Hospital sources said that Dr Beale’s supervision was necessary for Jayalalithaa to be taken off the ventilator. A Raj Bhavan press release said the governor saw the chief minister and was informed about the treatment being given to her. Karunanidhi has suggested that a current photograph of the chief minister be released to quash the rumours.
