UK coronavirus infections pass one million mark as 326 more lives lost today


Today the Department of Health revealed the grim milestone with Prime Minister Boris Johnson poised to put England back in lockdown. There were 21,915 infections confirmed in 24 hours, the Department of Health confirmed, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 1,011,660. Earlier today health authorities confirmed 256 Covid-19 patients had died in UK hospitals. NHS England reported a further 208 patients had died, while Scotland confirmed 24 fatalities, Wales 13 and Northern Ireland saw 11. It was understood that The Prime Minister met with his Chancellor Rishi Sunak, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Michael Gove and Health Minister Matt Hancock for crunch talks on Friday.
