The Bangladesh government made “huge effort” to sort out the issue and the UK was “pleased” to note the progress, he said. “…we are on the verge of resumption (of the direct cargo flights from Dhaka),” he said. Bangladesh was expecting an announcement on the lifting of the British ban on direct cargo flights from Dhaka which was imposed in March, 2016. The UK suspended those flights from Shahjalal International Airport on security grounds. They have to get their cargo scanned in another airport before they enter the UK.
