"A 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone has been declared around the premises. It comes after bird flu was confirmed at two other farms near Newark-on-Trent on December 26 and December 30. Both cases also triggered 3km protection zones and 10km surveillance zones, with all poultry on the farms culled. As the name suggests, HPAI is the severe form of bird flu, causing high death rates in birds. The NHS says humans can catch bird flu by coming into close contact with an infected bird or by touching the faeces of an infected bird or a bird that has died from the disease.
