Drivers have been warned about the potential for snow in parts of eastern Scotland, although this will mainly be on higher ground. Temperatures may plummet to as low as -2C in the north and just 1 or 2C in the south. 'With the Met Office signalling the possibility of a return of the Beast from the East, don't take your winter emergency kit out of the car just yet. Heading into next week it will remain cold with 'a risk of snow for all areas, although this is most likely over northern high ground', the Met Office said. Elsewhere unsettled weather will persist for central and southern parts of the UK, and it will be windy at times with overnight frosts likely.
