Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, appears to suggest that it is only a matter of time before British-made Storm Shadow missiles are used by Ukraine against targets in Russia. The issue came to light after US President Joe Biden authorised the use of long-range Atacms missiles. Government sources, quoted by The Times newspaper, stressed that the Atacms and Storm Shadows have different technical specifications, suggesting that the US decision does not directly bind the UK. Starmer said he did not want to go into “operational detail”, stressing the sensitivity of the situation, however, a senior government source quoted by the newspaper said that Starmer “wants to allow Ukraine to use the weapons as it sees fit for its own self-defence”.
